  • Bluebird* is the game's main protagonist. He is a parasitic monster that takes the identities of humans for periods of time by wearing their skins. Despite his rather gruesome biological imperative, Bluebird is a fairly sweet and cheerful guy with strong family values. He is very invested in the lives he occupies and has a natural curiosity and somewhat fanatical interest in the human world.

Bluebird dislikes his natural form and will jump at any opportunity to wear a skin. Not only because he favors more "human" appearances, but because he is, at the heart of things, a very lonely individual that craves human company and the only way to acquire that is if he himself is "human."

In his natural form, Bluebird is extremely tall with long, spider-like limbs and a bent body. His skin is coal black and his white eyes seem to glow. He resembles more of a spider than a human. (art by koby here)

In his most recent form, he takes on the identity of Alistair. He is somewhat short with curly blond hair, green eyes and faint freckles. Due to the damage on Alistair's corpse, he is missing an eye and his throat has a gaping slash from ear to ear. Black liquid seeps from the wounds near constantly, only temporarily abated by sealing the cuts. Despite this, Bluebird is very happy with his new appearance, although he wishes it was in more mint condition.

Although Bluebird uses male pronouns most of the time, he is more-or-less genderfluid, filling whatever gender role is required of him when he takes a new identity.

History

Bluebird is one of many children born to his | parent, who raised him and his siblings in isolated, rural areas to avoid detection by humans during their fragile growth periods.

While Bluebird had dozens of siblings growing up, most died or disappeared before they reached adulthood. His only adult siblings are Rouge, George and Fairy-Wren. Their species, especially as children, are extremely fragile and are especially prone to predation, illness or accidental death. That is partly why their broods are so large. With each brood nearing nearly 50 individuals, it allows for at least a few to survive to adulthood.

Most of his childhood was spent in abandoned cabins, campsites and caves for a few months at a time before Baba moved their brood to a new location. Bluebird and his siblings are kept isolated from thd outside world for their own safety, but Baba often brought them magazines, books, tape players and other human devices to keep them entertained. This began Bluebird's fascination with human creativity.
